Reviewers give opposing opinions about the heat generating capacity of the grill. A couple reviewers said it gets too hot.
One helpful reviewer expressed his dislike of the non-stick coating that Coleman put on the grill and the griddle. Although scientific research has shown fairly conclusively that non-stick coatings are not harmful it’s understandable that some people would rather it were not there at all. Coleman does not offer an uncoated alternative for either the grill or the griddle. This same reviewer substituted his Lodge Logic cast iron griddle.
Even if you are not a camper this Coleman propane stove is ideal to keep around for survival emergencies and power outages. The propane gas bottles are small and easy to store out of the way for when you need them.
